Kristen was born and raised in a small resort town in her beloved Montana. In her mid-twenties, she decided to stretch her wings and move to the Pacific Northwest, where she made her home for more than a dozen years.

During that time, Kristen wrote many romance novels and joined organizations such as RWA and other small writing groups. She spent countless hours in workshops, and more mornings than she can count up before the dawn so she could write before going to work. She submitted many manuscripts to agents and editors alike, but was always told no. In the summer of 2012, the self-publishing scene was new and thriving, and Kristen had one goal: to publish just one book. It was something she longed to cross off of her bucket list.

Not only did she publish one book, she’s since published close to thirty titles, many of which have hit the USA Today, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestsellers lists. She continues to self publish, best known for her With Me In Seattle and Boudreaux series, and is also proud to work with William Morrow, a division of HarperCollins, with the Fusion Series.

Kristen and her husband, John, make their home in her hometown of Whitefish, Montana with their two pugs and two cats.

TOP 30 Books and Series of 2014 – #3

Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past.

Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.

The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.

This is a book you must add to your TBR. I was taken into the story from the first few pages and just could not put the book down.
There isn’t too much I can really tell you about the book without giving away some major spoilers.
I really connected with Jesse. I could tell from the beginning he would do anything to keep “Water” safe. And as you read, you see their true love and connection and know that either way this goes…it’s going to end in a way that will tear you apart. Beautifully written, taking you from the past to present, pulling you into a story that will leave you with the best possible book hangover.

Jesse – Then

September was a heavy month for rain. It looks like October is competing for a record, too, because it’s pouring again tonight. It’s only a matter of time before the car gives out on me, right here in the middle of this deserted road. Then I’ll be just like the poor sucker on the shoulder up ahead, his hazards flashing.

Even though I’ve already made my mind up to keep moving, when I realize it’s a BMW Z8, my foot eases off the gas pedal. I’ve never seen one in real life before. Probably because there are only a few thousand in the entire country and each one would go for a pretty penny. It’s rare and it’s fucking gorgeous.

And it has a flat tire.

“Nope.” Changing tires in the rain sucks. That rich bastard can wait for roadside assistance to come save him. I’m sold on that plan until my headlights catch long blond hair in the driver’s side. Twenty feet past, my conscience takes over and I can’t help but brake. “Shit,” I mutter, pulling off to the shoulder and slowly backing up.

No one’s getting out, but if she’s alone, she’s probably wary. With a loud groan, I step out into the rain, yanking the hood of my gray sweatshirt up over my head. I jog over to the passenger-side window. Growing up with a sheriff as a father, you learn never to stand on the road, even if there isn’t a car in sight. People get clipped all the time.

I knock against the glass.

And wait.

“Come on . . .” I mutter, my head hung low, the rain pounding on my back feeling like a cold hose bath. It can’t be more than 40 degrees out here. Another five seconds and I’m leaving her here.

Finally the window cracks open, just enough for me to peer through. She’s alone in the car. It’s dark, but I’m pretty sure I see tears. I definitely see smeared black makeup. And her eyes . . . They glisten with fear. I don’t blame her. She’s driving a high-priced car and she’s sitting alone out here after eleven at night. And now there’s a guy in a hoodie hanging outside her window. I adjust my tone accordingly. “Do you need help?”

I hear her swallow hard before answering, “Yes. I do.” She sounds young, but it’s hard to tell with some women.

“Have you called Triple-A?”

She hesitates and then shakes her head.

Okay . . . not very talkative. She smells incredible, though, based on the flowery perfume wafting out of her car. Incredible and rich. “Your spare’s in the trunk?”

“I . . . think so?”

I sigh. Looks like I’m changing a tire in the pouring rain after all.
Born in small-town Ontario, K.A. Tucker published her first book at the age of six  with the help of her elementary school librarian and a box of crayons. She is a voracious reader, and currently resides in a quaint town outside of Toronto with her husband, two beautiful girls,  and an exhausting brood of four-legged creatures.

“Rekindle the Flame” by Kate Meader in BABY, IT’S COLD OUTSIDE

He gathered her closer, perversely pleased that she didn’t soften immediately. He deserved to suffer. As their tongues tangled, realization shocked him stupid: no one else affected him like this, sent his heart soaring into the stratosphere and his cock punching against his zipper. A kiss, that’s all it took with Darcy who had once been his fantasy girl, and was fast becoming his fantasy woman. It was like someone had opened a bottle of good lovin’ wine. Vintage, seven years ago.

She had closed her eyes and the fact that she still did that during a kiss made his heart ache so sweetly. Slowly, she opened them as if waking from a dream.

“Te necesito, Darcy,” he murmured. So strange, only with her did his first language—one he barely spoke anymore—come out. She unlocked that primal part of him.

Their lips met again in a rush of heat and desire, and this time he abandoned his misguided attempt at coolness. It had never been a game with her. She clutched his shoulders, digging into his skin, and he couldn’t get enough of the bite of her. Her soft mouth, her clawing fingers, the fight in her body. She let loose a groan he felt all the way to his balls.

Crowd noise filtered through from the bar, reminding him that they were in far too public a place. Lifting her, he headed a few short feet to the back office and pushed his way through, kicking the door shut behind him. Too small for anything, it was perfect for this. He sat her on the desk, on top of a pile of invoices. Her purse hit the floor. She was breathing heavily, the swells of her breasts lifting her pearls.

“Is there someone else?” he asked, needing to know for a million reasons, none of them good for his sanity.

“Not at the moment.” She reached for his belt and undid the buckle while he pushed her skirt up her thighs. Thick woolen tights covered her legs, and the memory of her peaches-and-cream skin made his mouth water.

“Hurry,” she said, her eyes wild. “Please.”

This was moving at lightning speed, but she’d get no complaints from him. Next time—and yes, there would be a next time—he’d take it slow. Right now, he needed to be inside her, feel the clutch of her silken folds around his cock, find the pleasure he craved after a shitty couple of months. After far too long without her.

Quickly, he produced a condom and rolled it on while she watched approvingly. His hands shot up her skirt, seeking out the top of her tights so he could yank them south, but the snugness of the fabric over her hips made it difficult to get purchase.

“I think we need to—”

“Rip it, Beck,” she whispered.

“Rip it.” She dragged his hand between her thighs, and he could feel her pulsing with want right there. A throaty moan escaped her lips as he applied more pressure. “Please. Now.”

Rip it. Get inside her. No waiting, no seduction, no fucking games. Just Darcy with that hot brew of pleading and ordering that destroyed him every time. He pulled the thick wool away from her body and, after a couple of tries, tore it down the seam. Slipping his fingers inside, he pushed aside her panties and found her soaked.

“Jesus, Darcy. You’re—”

“Yes, yes, I am,” she said, grinding her pliant heat on his hand. She hooked a finger in his jeans pocket and drew him toward her. “Do something about it.”

What a great holiday treat to readers! Baby It’s Cold Outside is the perfect book to cozy up to the fireplace and get lost in 5 incredibly fun and romantic stories from 5 of today’s top romance authors.
I absolutely love and adore Jennifer Probst, Kristen Proby and Emma Chase and was wonderfully surprised by new to me authors Melody Anne and Kate Meader.
Jennifer’s story takes you on a winter wonderland ride as two old college friends get placed together on a blind date that neither of them ever expected to happen.
I was thrilled to get a Drew remix of a Christmas Story, only in the most hilarious of ways, making me fall even more in love with that foul mouthed loveable Drew and his saucy wife, Kate.
With Kristen, we get to visit with the gang in Montana and meet a ski instructor that made me want to leave on the first plane to Montana to see if I could find him!
Melody’s sweet love story is about two polar opposites who find love when thrown together by the meddling ladies of a small Montana town.
And Kate’s story of a love lost then found again only to wonder if the choices made where for the right reasons…and can they move past it, to find love again.
I ended the book with a smile on my face and a renewed love for the authors I knew and the excitement of finding two new authors, I can’t wait to know more of.
Love Love Love – Baby It’s Cold Outside. You don’t want to miss this treasure of a treat.

11 QUESTIONS FROM MY NOMINATORS: (Literary Mania Reviews)
1. What is your absolute Top Favorite book above all others?

I would have to say To Kill A Mockingbird. It is an all time classic book that   has stuck with me throughout my life. It’s one that I can go back to time and time again. And being a child from the south and having parents that grew up during this time in our country’s history, it’s a story that never disappoints. How we need to love our fellow man, no matter what their race (or religion or sexual preference).

2. What was the book that began your reading obsession?

Well, like everyone else, my sister gave me 50 Shades of Gray. But then we went on a road trip to Los Angeles (from Houston, TX) and so I downloaded a bunch of books for the trip. The first books that I bought were all of R.L. Mathewson’s books – The Neighbor from Hell Series, EMT Series, Hollywood Series and Pyte/Sentinal Series…8 books in all and I read them all in 32 hours. I was HOOKED!

3. What is your favorite thing to do besides read?

I am a very creative person, always have been. My all time favorite thing is editing film. I went to school for Music and Video Business and spend most of my college years and a few years beyond working in the Film and Radio Business. I like to  entertainer and I love love love photography and filming. I am so glad I can incorporate it all into my blog 🙂

4. Who are your favorite authors?

There are so many! More and more get added to the list daily. Raine Miller, R.L. Mathewson, Abbi Glines, Colleen Hoover, Jillian Dodd, Molly McAdams, E.L. Montes Kristen Proby, Katie Ashley, Gail McHugh, but this list could go on and on and on….

5. What social networks do you use?

I use Facebook and Twitter. Although I am new to Twitter and am still trying to get the whole gist of it. I am a talker so it’s hard to get it all in, in 140 words!

6. Which of those social networks is your favorite?

Facebook! I love the instant interaction that can take place. I am glued to it! It also helps me stick close to my friends who are all over the country. It’s so bad that my 6 year old, any time she does something – she asks “Are you putting that on Facebook?”

7. What is your favorite holiday?

As a kid is was Thanksgiving. I have a HUGE family and so Thanksgiving was the time for us all to get together. Plus my birthday was always around that holiday too, so that meant presents for me from everyone! As an adult, I love Christmas. I love buying gifts for my kids and others. I don’t want anything in return. I just love to give, give give.

8. Who is your favorite BBF?

Without a doubt – Ethan Blackstone (Naked and All In: The Blackstone Affair by Raine Miller) I TOTALLY FanGirl over Ethan and even Admin a Fan Page on Facebook for Ethan (https://www.facebook.com/groups/EthanBlackstone/) Come and join us!

9. Who would you cast as that BBF?

There is no one but DAVID GANDY for the role of Ethan Blackstone!

10. What authors have you met & gotten books signed by?
I have not had the chance to meet any authors in person. But I have been able to chat quite a bit with two very special women in my life – Raine Miller and Emmy Montes. They mean the world to me and have really supported me in my launch of my blog. I have signed books though from Emmy, Jamie McGuire and soon Abbi Glines. And as soon as Raine gets her books in print – they will be on my bookshelf!

11. What made you decide that you wanted to start a Bookblog?

I wanted to use my creativity to help out those authors that didn’t have publishing companies to throw money at them for promotions. I have a skill set and was just looking for someplace to use it and have fun. My blog is more of a FanGirl Blog for Indi-Authors. My husband just laughs at me, when he sees how excited I become for a book, author or character. He knows of my extreme love for Ethan and just rolls his eyes. Like he said, he has never seen me happier. I am doing what I love, meeting some awesome new friends and sharing the love!

11 QUESTIONS FROM MY NOMINATORS: (Book Boyfriend Reviews)

1. First book that swept you into a whole new world?

There were probably two books (I know I know…that’s cheating) but I read both of these books in the same week. Talk about book hangovers! Taking Chances by Molly McAdams and Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. My husband thought he was going to have to put me on medication after that week! Both of these stories moved me so much. It was the first time since I was a teen, that a book had moved me to tears. BOTH OF THEM. I did the total ugly cry with Taking Chances. I was reading it in the middle of the night and was sobbing uncontrollably! My husband woke up to a start and just held me…thinking someone had called and given me bad news. I couldn’t tell him what was wrong because I was crying so hard. When I finally got it out, I thought he was going to kill me! LOL. Beautiful Disaster was unlike any book I had read up to that point. I had just started back reading after a 20 year break. I just loved it so much! For a month after reading them, I told every person I met about them. I bought them for my friends, my sister. I just couldn’t say enough about them!

2. Name a book you have re-read at least 3 times?

Slammed and Point of Retreat. Such a beautiful love story! I can’t get enough of them. I think Hopeless is going to be joining the ranks with them soon. I love Colleen Hoover and will buy anything she puts out… no questions. Just buy. And I have read both of the Blackstone Affair books 3 times and I am sure I will read them even more.

3. What genre do you prefer to read and why?

I am a hopeless romantic. But I like for the stories to be around this time period. So I love Contemporary Romance and I am also a sucker for Young Adult Romance. I like stories to have humor and most CR and YA are just that. Coming of age. I have been known to read some Paranormal (Like R.L. Mathewson’s Sentinal/Pyte Series, which I loved) but I most stick with the other.

4. If you had a choice between a real book and an e-reader which one would you choose?

That is tough because I love both. But the e-reader would have to be my first choice. It totally changed my life. I am a busy mom to two and during the week I take on 4 other kids of my friends. So I am constantly on the move. I can read in the car pool line, at the soccer field, music practice, ballet class. And I can take more than one book with me at a time. That amazes me. Although now I carry around a nook, a kindle and sometimes my iPad. So my purse is getting heavy!
5. If you could meet any author who would it be?

I would love to meet Raine Miller in person. Hopefully I will get to meet her this Summer in Vegas at the Naughty Mafia Event.  My inviting her to my little fan group for Ethan Blackstone was the best decision I ever made! She has been the person who has been the most encouraging to me in this process of starting my blog. I chat with her several times a week and I just adore her more and more – each time we talk.

6. Best quote from a book that always stays with you?

I could quote the whole book of Hopeless. Colleen writes some profound stuff:

“All marriages have a time limit if you enter them for the wrong reasons. Marriage doesn’t get easier…it only gets harder. If you marry someone hoping it will improve things, you might as well set your timer the second you say, ‘I do.”  – Holder
“Holder: “I thought Mormon’s weren’t allowed to have caffeine?”
Breckin: “I decided to break that rule the morning I woke up gay.”
Now I miss Holder and Sky…See now I am going to have to re-read Hopeless again.

7. If you could go anywhere in the world where would you go?

I love to travel, so this is hard for me…I will be going to Italy and Greece with my cousins in a couple of years. But I think for all out beauty, I would love to go to New Zealand. It just seems to have it all. Beaches, Mountains, Forrest!

8. Favorite place to read?

In bed at night, after my kids and husband are asleep. All the lights are down low and the glow of my Nook keeps me company.

9. What is the best thing about being a blogger?

All the fabulous people I get to meet. Authors, fellow bloggers and even fans. The blog lets me use my creative outlets (video production, art, imagination). My blog is a little different in the way that I like to explore books more. I don’t really like to review. I will tell someone my opinion if asked, but I like to take the journey myself. Not have someone else tell me what the journey is. I like to have fun and let the fans know more about the authors they love and what inspires them. Things that I would love to know more about an author or a character. I have bonded with some great ladies who indulge me. Raine Miller, Emmy Montes and Gail McHugh…and the list gets larger every day!

10. What other blogger would you like to meet?

I had my first fangirl in Christine from Shh Moms Reading. She is my BBF (Best Blogger Friend) and I just have to find a way to meet her. Plus I would love to meet Kim Person from Stick Girl Book Blog. Holly at I Love Indie Books and Smitten  from SmittenBook Blog. They all just seem like a lot of fun and people I would click with.

11. Favorite food?

I could eat Tex-Mex everyday for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy!

1.  My husband, Gene and I met at work. We have been married for 15 years.

2. I absolutely LOVE being a mom, but it is the toughest job I have ever had in my life. I love my son Carter 10 and my daughter Emmy 6 and am so super proud of them!

3. I moved around a lot as a child and even as an adult. I have lived in 10 states and when I graduated from High School I went to 23 schools.

4. I love reading…A LOT. Because we moved so much – I never took Grammar. I always had Literature. So if I have bad grammar or a lot of misspelled words…now you know why 😉

5. Really enjoying blogging and meeting all these great authors and characters!

6. I’d like to get healthy and have lost 48 pounds this past year. I want to loose another 50!

7. I love to travel and have been to 48 states and 5 countries.

8. I feel so loved by other bloggers and Indi-Authors. I just walk around with a constant smile.

What’s the 411? January 1st thru 12th

My husband is use to me walking around with some type of eReader in my hand. I have become good at multi-tasking (to some degree). Now I am not claiming that things get done correctly or that they are done in a timely manner (so I had to wash one load of laundry 3 times this week) but things mostly get done. I usually have 3 different books going. One on my Nook, one on my Kindle and usually one on my phone. All and all, I read a lot of books in one week.

I have a friend of mine, Liz, who I meet up with in the car rider line at school to hold our daily “Book Club”. We sit in line a whole hour before our kids even get out of school to talk books or FBBs (Fictional Book Boyfriends) or the newest author I adore. I forget how fast of a reader I am when asking her what book she is reading and she still is on the same book from two days ago. My list that I forward to her so she can add them her TBR list is pages long, She says it could take her years to catch up. She is a great friend for listening to my gushing! She appeases me in my rantings and ravings. The teachers at the school, know of our “Book Club” and will stop by the car to see what we are up to. It’s what I look forward to daily. I also have several friends that I have met through Facebook by discussing books. Some of them has become dear friends and we chat almost daily. They have suggested books that I would never in a million years had thought I would read (and actually like) and they encourage me, tease me and keep me laughing. I couldn’t image how boring my day would be without them.

All that to say, word of mouth is the life line for most authors. Especially self-published authors. You know how it goes. I tell Liz, Liz tells her sister or her friend and so forth and so forth. So I am starting my weekly 411. What I am reading and a bit of information for you. I am not a writer/reviewer.  These posts will let you know of the books that I read in the past week. I will rate them with hearts instead of stars. Maybe even a favorite quote and links to add to your own TBR lists and where to buy them. This weeks list will be a little longer. I am going to go back to the first. Don’t want you to miss out on these great books!

The Perfect Game
by J. Sterling

He’s a game she never intended to play.
And she’s the game changer he never knew he needed.

I love a sarcastic, smart ass man and Jack Carter is all that and more. Jacl is the BMOC and no one thought he could ever be caught.

Fight With Me (With Me In Seattle #2) by Kristen Proby

“It’s just dinner, Julianne.”
“You’re not looking at me like you just want dinner, Nate.”
He cocks his head to the side and a smile kisses his lips. “How am I looking at you?”
“Like you’d like to f*ck me on this desk.”

All I can say is this book is HOT , HOT, HOT so read it!

 All Over You (Devoured 0.5)
by Emily Snow

Before Sienna was devoured, before Lucas was consumed, they were all over each other . . .

This prequel  helps set the scene to Devoured and gives you insight to why Sienna is so mad at Lucas when they meet again in Nashville.
This is a novella – nice quick read.

On The Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves

“I could never come up with the right words to sum up this story, so I’m just going to go with “WOW!”. Loved every single word. Beautiful story.” ~ Review by Author Tara Sivec on Goodreads

This story grabbed me from the get go. What happens when you get stranded on a desert island with a boy who slowly becomes a man you can’t live without. Love Love Love this book!

Dizzy by Nyrea Dawn and Jolene Perry

“He’s the need and the sparks and the laughter, and he touches my heart in a way it’s never been touched before. It’s terrifying and so honest it makes me dizzy.”

I likw books by Nyrea Dawn. They are light reads that are fun and no angst. Drama, sometimes, but  nothing to heavy.  The story is told in a duel POV, which I always enjoy.  A cute read.

Down to You/Up to You by M. Leighton

The scorching tale of one girl, two brothers and a love triangle…that’s not.

I had this book in my TBR list for over 6 months. Then when Up to You was released this month, I decided to take the plunge!  I am kicking myself for not having read it sooner. There  is a nice twist in this book that totally threw me for a loop.  I stayed up all night reading Down to You and Up to You – SO WORTH THE LACK OF SLEEP!

Snowed Over by Angie Stanton

A witty and uber cute novella. If you are in a book funk, this is a light read that will make you smile. A story about two college students trying to get home, during a blizzard, for Christmas.

Every once in a while, you just want something light and cute with romance to read. The conversations are funny and witty. It was just what I needed.

Stalk Me (The Keatyn Chronicles) by Jillian Dodd

“So, you’re single. I’m single. Let’s mingle”

A new series by Jillian Dodd, author of
That Boy. A little Gossip Girl meets Hollywood.
This was another book that I had on my TBR list for a while. I LOVED That Boy and That Wedding. I didn’t know if I could get into a book about a Hollywood Teen and her mean girl life. This is totally not that type of book. I was hooked on Keatyn and her drama. The Keatyn Chronicles will be a 6 book series. If you have teen daughters. They will love these books. Books 1 & 2 are currently out with Book 3 due to release this Spring.

The Proposal (Proposition #2) by Katie Ashley

This is how I felt when The Proposal
was released early!

I think this tells you how
I felt about this book!
 Hehe 🙂
If you haven’t read The Proposition
and The Proposal – Go read it NOW!

This book is not available on B&N
